The Care Dependency Grant is for caregivers of children who have severe disabilities that require permanent home care. This grant recognizes the additional costs and care needs of children with severe disabilities.
The child must require permanent care due to their physical or mental condition. A medical assessment is required to confirm the child's need for permanent care.
Child Requirements:
- Under 18 years old
- Has a severe mental or physical disability
- Requires permanent care
- South African citizen
- Not in a state-funded institution
Caregiver Requirements:
- Primary caregiver of the child
- South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
- Pass the means test
